Washington prepares to welcome Algeria’s economic elite at the Maryland Investment Summit
ALGIERS, USA – In a move that underscores a new dynamism in Algeria’s national economy and its growing openness to global markets, a high-level Algerian economic delegation is set to raise the country’s flag at the largest investment gathering in the United States: the "Select USA Investment Summit 2026," to be held in Maryland from May 3 to 6.
The delegation, led by Kamel Moula, President of the Algerian Council for Economic Renewal (CREA), comprises nearly 30 heads of major enterprises and economic groups, alongside the Algerian Investment Promotion Agency (AAPI). This composition vividly reflects the diversity and richness of Algeria’s economic fabric.
Algeria Takes the Lead: Ranked First in North Africa
Confirming Algeria’s growing stature on the international economic stage, the Algerian delegation has been ranked among the most significant participating contingents. Notably, it secured the first position among all North African nations, sending a powerful and positive signal about Algeria’s image as a promising and attractive investment destination.
This high-profile participation is organized by the CREA in coordination with the U.S. Embassy in Algiers and with the support of the Algerian diplomatic mission in Washington. The U.S. Chargé d'Affaires in Algeria, Marc Shapiro, will be present throughout the summit, adding significant diplomatic and economic momentum to the event.
High-Level Meetings and Anticipated Partnerships
The Algerian delegation's involvement will extend beyond mere attendance at the summit. Members will hold a series of bilateral meetings with senior U.S. administration officials, financial institutions, and economic stakeholders in Washington. These discussions will explore ways to expand bilateral economic cooperation and open new avenues for partnership across various sectors, including energy, industry, technology, and agriculture.
Algerian business leaders will also have the opportunity for direct exchanges with their American counterparts to explore strategic alliances and knowledge transfer, aiming to integrate Algerian enterprises into global value chains.
Enhancing Algeria’s Image as an Investment Destination
According to a statement from the Algerian Council for Economic Renewal, this high-level economic mission represents a genuine opportunity to present a comprehensive vision of Algeria’s potential. It further strengthens the extension of public policies led by the country’s highest authorities across various strategic sectors, especially in light of global economic transformations and the ongoing improvement of Algeria’s business climate.
The council emphasized that this strong Algerian presence at the 2026 edition of the Select USA Summit reflects the remarkable dynamism of Algeria’s economic participation in international forums. It lays the groundwork for a new era of mutually beneficial cooperation between the Algerian and American economies, offering a real chance for national institutions to showcase the country’s full potential.
