In the world of college football, the most prestigious Heisman Trophy goes to the University of Colorado’s standout Travis Hunter. Hunter, who plays both linebacker and wide receiver, impressed everyone with his incredible performance during the 2024 season. He was named the league’s Offensive Player of the Year and was named to the Big 12’s first team.
With 92 catches and 14 touchdowns, Hunter ranked first in the Big 12. He also racked up 1,152 receiving yards, which was second in the league. With 21 passes for 20 yards, Hunter became the most influential player on the field.
But Hunter’s skills weren’t limited to the offense. On defense, he recorded 31 tackles and led the league in tackles with 11 blocked passes and four interceptions, making him the Big 12's most outstanding outfielder.
In winning the Heisman Trophy, Hunter became the second player in history to win the award after excelling on offense and defense, joining Charles Woodson in 1997 with Michigan.
The Heisman Trophy, awarded since 1935, is considered college football's most honorable award. This year's other finalists were Oregon's Dillon Gabriel, Boise State's Ashton Gianti and Miami's Cam Ward.
The four nominees are selected each year by more than 900 media members and past award winners, ensuring that the winner is the most outstanding player of the season.
